Starbucks for Cheap

So I've been obsessed with Starbucks since I was 18, so like 2 years. Jk, I wish.

Anyways. It's even come with me in my vegan times, and obviously when vegetarian lol. Problem is, it's mad expensive and I really can't justify getting a $5 coffee daily. Neither can I burn off the calories from that much sugar daily. So I really only get it maybe once a week unless it's the holidays, cuz I have no self- control at that point. Like none.

But recently I stumbled on some youtube videos of how to get Starbucks for cheap. I'm not going to call it fraud, but it is a bit suspect. But after giving starbucks so much of my money (I've been Gold ever since Gold was a thing, and I have the card to prove it) I think I deserve a discount.

And I am in no way stingy, so I wanted to share it with everyone I know. This really works, but I'm pretty sure that the barista's will hate you. I saw some blog posts online, so be careful how you try and work this system. Don't just order the espresso and then pour in all their half and half. Big no-no.

Basically what you do is order your drink a la carte. Instead of ordering their pre-named drink mix, you order the ingredients individually. Comes out way cheaper. I'll walk you through how to do this through the app, but you can order the same thing in person as well.

So first you pick your coffee base, you can do regular coffee/decaf or expresso. Think of how many shots your favorite drink has, or you prefer. If you don't know, use the app and pretend you are going to order your drink and look at all it has inside (you can do that by clicking the drop menus to modify, but don't actually modify anything). Like here's a basic order of Pumpkin Spice Latte.

So you pick if you want a cold coffee drink or a hot one. It's not winter yet, and I live in Florida, so I'm going to do this cold. So in the menu you scroll down and find iced expresso in the cold coffees area. Or it would be hot expresso if that's your thing.

Here's the fun part. You are going to modify this like crazy and they will upcharge this expresso drink as you add on.

I always reduce the espresso in my drinks, cuz I feel it taste too bitter with the full amount. So like if it was tall, I usually request only half a shot, and if it's Grande I ask for only 1 shot. So if you are like me and only want one shot, that's a solo. If you like it normal, that's a doppio, and if you like more, well, that's on you, but that would be Triple (3) or a Quad (4).

And you then try to make the rest of the options as similar to the original drink as possible. So I change the cup size to grande. If you go into Add-ins, that's where you add the milk and you can even reduce the amount of ice (something I hadn't realized before). This page is super long, and there's so many options.

My advice, that I learned from my first fail, is that you will need about 3 different kinds of milk for a grande. I've learned that they only give you about 4oz of milk when you add-in, and that's not nearly enough. You can't get doubles of the same kind (this might be a game ender for some of you). If you are ordering in person, you can try asking for half one type and half another, they may be nice enough to do it. For now I just order a variety of milks.

The flavors drop down is super long too, but that's where the yummy stuff is. Add in you sauces, holiday sauces are here too!!

Don't forget your toppings! But then you are done and it should look something like this!

You can add this to your order and proceed as usual. But check out the price on the last page!!! Only $2.73!

You can also use this and order it in person, just verbalize it. My order would sound something like this...

"Can I get a Grande iced solo with light ice, extra 1%, extra 2%, extra milk, 4 shots of pumpkin spice, with whipped cream and pumpkin spice topping." (Again, baristas might hate me)

You may have to play around with the milks and flavor shots until you get it exactly to your liking, but once you do enjoy your $3 Starbucks!! Your welcome!
